Comcast Makes Major Bill Pay Changes Without Informing Users

// November 29th, 2009 // Annoyances

I’ve been having the most frustrating experience with Comcast’s Online Bill Pay for the past month. It first started when I tried signing into their online bill pay at here. It gave me the following error,

Missing or Invalid Information
Please correct the fields below outlined in red.
UserName Not Found

This error is strange because I never deleted my account and have been signing in no problem for a year. I did a bit of investigation by searching Twitter and talking to some of the Twitter Comcast support people. I found out that Comcast switched their comcast.com bill pay system to comcast.net. Which means if you were signing in through comcast.com bill pay then your account has been deleted. There was no communication to any users regarding this change unless you have a comcast.net account. But if you have a comcast.net account then you weren’t affected by this change anyway.

So after finding out all of this information I signed up for a comcast.net account here. I was able to use my previous e-mail address to sign up. Once I signed up and signed in I started to receive the error message,

You do not have access to account or billing information.
Please see the Primary account owner to view and pay the bill online.

So I still can’t pay my bill even though I validated that I was the account owner when signing up. Honestly, how hard is it to give Comcast money?

Fast forward 2 weeks and I received an e-mail that my bill is ready for viewing. Except when I tried to sign in to my account it was deleted again! Ridiculous. All I know is if Digg did something like deleting all accounts except for ones from our “new and improved sign in system” then we would have no users one angry internet on our hands. I can’t believe Comcast gets away with something like this.

I am having difficulty paying my bill today as well. I was able to get into my account, but the payment will not go through and informs me to call custom service to find out the status of my payment. After a 20 minute hold time the customer service representative informs me that she cannot tell through her system if the payment posted or not. I was told to wait a few days to see if it posts, but I will be going out of town with no ability to pay my bill by the due date should it not have posted. I will be very happy to switch to Verizon with my neighbors once they finish installing FIOS in our area.

I’m having the same problem, and ave made a help request to Comcast about it…I’m dreading having to make a call about it but it may come to that. Seems inexcusable for a company providing internet access as one of its services…

I am having the same problem. Once I finally did get my comcast.net login information (after having to live-chat with them for about 20 minutes), they refuse to send my bill to my personal email address. I contacted them and they said that they will only send the bill to my comcast.net account. They are basically forcing me to use their stupid comcast email account that I never wanted in the first place! And they made the switch without ever telling me… So ready to switch to AT&T (if only it was available in my area…)

Agreed - the “how to give comcast my money” is infuriating on several accounts:

    1. They switched to comcast.net without providing helpful info
    2. Their “customer service” via chat people can never solve the problem, and always tell me to call instead.
    3. You can’t view your bill to see what you’re paying for.

Somewhere along the line, this is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen, right?

I have been paying my bill for years logging in with my yahoo email. All of a sudden I couldn’t login about 2 months ago. I did the online chat to have someone help me. I got switched to three different people, explaining my problem 3 times in 40 minutes. I finally was told I have to call. Today I called and spent another 40 minutes with someone who tells me I need a comcast.net email to login but he is having trouble giving me one and I should call another time!! I have already wasted two differnt time periods and now I have to call again, just to see my bill. Ridiculous!
